Executive Summary

Under the British Common Standard for Self Catering BATTLE FIELD COTTAGE achieves a FOUR STAR rating. Part of the Standard is that all critical areas of the property: cleanliness, living areas, bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen must each achieve a grade commensurate with the overall rating.  Following this assessment the establishment meets these requirements, enabling the rating indicated above to be confirmed.

This delightful period property continues to offer a high standard of comfortable accommodation and easily meets Visit Britain requirements at the current rating for which the proprietors are to be commended.

Physical areas

The cottage is set close to the town centre and offers easy access to local amenities and tourist attractions with fine countryside views over the famous battle fields. Decor and fittings are maintained to a high standard throughout with some new items featured since the previous assessment e.g. the carved four poster bed The antique furniture suits this period property and presents to a high standard, easy seating and beds appear particularly comfortable.  Guest benefit from provision of family and    en suite bathrooms, which is a surprising and welcome, feature in a cottage of this age. 

Guests are welcomed personally on arrival and provided with a generous grocery hamper for their enjoyment and convenience.  At the time of assessment, housekeeping and cleanliness were observed to present to a particularly high standard, which is a credit to the proprietors.
