Battle
Area |
- Battle Field Cottage is just a few
minutes walk to the main entrance of Battle Abbey and the 1066 battlefields. From
the rear of the cottage National Trust fields can be seen, with it’s public footpaths
crossing an area that would probably have been part of the Battle of Hastings.
A short drive takes you to Hastings Old Town with its ancient fishing huts, the
Cinque Port of Rye and the beautiful beach of Camber Sands. Along the coast to
the west is found Eastbourne and Brighton. The Royal Spar town of Tunbridge Wells
is a short drive in an approximately, northerly direction. Battle Golf Club is
a short drive away.
- The direct mainline train service to London
and all the tourist highlights of the Capital City is just a short half-mile walk
from the cottage. The town of Battle has a wide variety of cafés, pubs,
and restaurants that will supply food including breakfast, as well as lunch and
evening meals. Apart from the interesting shops there are two supermarkets, bakers
and butchers selling locally raised meat.
